Located in the small town of Pistoia in the center of Italy, this compelling compact residence is a collaborative effort between Sunday and Massimo Fiorido Associati, two regional architectural firms. Originally built in the 1960s, the former unremarkable cottage was in need to have renovations when their owners commanded a complete reinvention. His single most defining feature is an outdoor area used limestone which identifies as cover for its walls, such as travertine. For additional visual impact and the transport of goods easier, the single plate of travertine limestone is used to dress a property in several smooth rectangular pieces, structured to reduce like a cross between tiles and floor tiles look. This fascinating style choice is bordered by the large wooden deck places on each side of the house, as well as by large trees, improved window openings. Inside, wood tones take over from the stone, so warm and inviting living, dining and sleeping areas. A few inventive touches, like a staircase turned storage and a closed kitchen at the front entrance, enliven the tranquil rooms inside.
