In the design of this barn, Alchemy architects have taken their marks from the typical barn from the 19th century and updated her 21st century living standards. The outer shell of the barn is very fascinating. One feels the urge to go through the wooden planks and watch and find out what is hidden inside. The outer shell is made of wooden planks, the flaps perpendicular to the plane of the second floor. This cup is here and there interrupted by door and window openings. It is not compact, as it randomly looking distance between the wooden planks that filter the light. Access is done via a wooden ramp leading to a large sliding horizontally placed wooden planks. This mixture of horizontal and vertical positioning of the planks gives the place a poetic look shabby. By shifting the door you get to a veranda, which symbolizes the essence of the barn: double height, light and air, hanging by the planks and lanterns from the ceiling. But once you see what's behind the wooden bowl, you know you will not find cows in there! The inner shell is from the veranda through large glass doors leading to the living room and the open kitchen accessible. Part of the living room has double height volume, from a design wood stove heated with high visible fireplace. Above the open kitchen, the second floor is with ash strips closed to form a sleeping loft. To access this loft, you must first a mezzanine in black steel and go the paneled serves as a library / study / reading area. The layout of the interior is inspired by a barn and has under and over dwellings. The other bedrooms are placed, which is difficult to guess from the outside in semi-underground downstairs.
The internal volume are different and treated in different materials. The living room retains the same double the volume level as the porch while over the kitchen roof closed first half way to make a mezzanine, then fully to include a large airy bedrooms.
The staircase. below and above steel covered in industrial looking dark, like the ones used for the exterior cladding of the mezzanine
On the inside of the half mezzanine walls are lined with bookshelves, looked like a miniature library.
The kitchen and dining area are spacious, with plenty of storage and workspace. The wooden furniture looks rustic and modern at once. This whole floor benefits from plenty of natural light brought by the full length of the line window.
This beautiful wooden porch leads you directly into the atmosphere of the barn from the 19th century!
