DC2 Residence is located in Tielrode, Temse, Belgium positioned and was developed by Vincent Van Duysen Architects ,

The residence uses simplicity both for its exterior and its interior, so that the whole house an air of serenity.

DC2 Residence by Vincent Van Duysen Architects:

" The project for a house in Tielrode is the second project for the client of DC residence in Waasmunster, Van Duysen developed in 1998, the client will move from a residential neighborhood in a rural setting. The close to building a house, existed to adapt to these rural and informal environment. Apart from the main property, the project also concerned the renovation of the old farm barns.

The position of the new built facility has been restricted from the base of the current residence. The idea of Van Duysen to go to basic rural typology creation (an extended volume parallel to the road, with a 45 ° pitched roof) refers to the tradition of basic farmhouses in the region. Due to its location, it will strengthen the court in under the property and the barns, opened up to the street. The house is located in between the farm and the fields, to enjoy in this way, both the smaller scale of the courtyard (with the midday sun), as properly as the far and wide view of the fields.

The reference to the tradition of simple volume is combined with a modern design. The detailed method to add the design and material palette to the contemporary character of the residence. By using a single material for the façade any ornamentation is removed from the design and style: the common gutters and ridges are practically abstract, invisible. The traditional roof overhang was not running, the door sills have not been conducted in Belgian bluestone, and the wooden facade is barns- -Fabrication reference to the old wooden continued on the roof.

immediately after consultation with the client and the contractor, which were two old barns not renovated but rebuilt in the same design and style language as the primary property, adding to the character of the entire project. At first glance, because of its abstract nature of the 3 volumes do not appear rooted in the rural context. However, when you enter the courtyard, you feel that the project definitely grown in tradition and rooted the scale of the rapid environment.

The principles have been a passive residence followed and achieved in the construction, with the cooperation with DENC! Gym and architectural firm specializing in sustainable construction.

The landscape design and style by landscape architect Paul De Roose, was the goal, limits the careful organization of individual trees, restoring the beautiful holly hedge around the grounds and the use of a brushed concrete floor together for a functional farm courtyard. These concrete floors are continued in the residence in a sandblasting end exactly where they. The tone for a sober interior, fits the atmosphere of the architectural project "
